Saturday, March 26, 2005 I'll never know how much it cost... After reading the last slide on my set of lecture notes on the disorders of the adrenal gland, my eyes just closed. I guess the effects of a few nights of insufficient rest had begin to set in. Nevertheless, i tried to stay up but i believe my efforts were futile. I decided to take a walk, away from the table where i usually sit in the library to get some exercise in hope that it'll freshen me up. As i took my first step out of the library, all i could hear was the sound of thunder and rain drops. I looked at my watch and the time was exactly 3.30 p.m. At that very second, time stood still as i walked away from the library. As i walked, i began to ponder. From my observation, every year, on this very day that we fondly know as Good Friday, rain will start to pour at about 2 to 3 p.m. I guess it wasn't just the thought of rain that ran through my mind at that very moment but rather the rememberance of what my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ did on the cross for me some 2000 years ago so that i may live and have life abundantly. Though it's easy for me to recall such a time as this, i'll never be able to apprehend what Jesus did back then and the measure the cost of His sacrifice for all of us. Though we celebrate Christmas and other festivites, i personally think Good Friday and Easter are more important than anything else. It's the basis of a Christian's salvation and why we should treasure His sacrifice. Although i know of people who mourn during this time of reflection, i think it is also important for Christians to rejoice because Jesus has risen from the dead and is alive. Furhtermore, through His death on the cross, He conquered sin and gave us a second chance at life. The most unbelieveable fact is that Salvation is absolutely free. All that one has to do to get saved is to acknowledge and confess that Jesus is Lord and repent of his sins. Finally, just take time to ponder on the lyrics of an old EMO song... I think the lyrics speak for itself... When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of Glory died My richest gain I count but loss And pour contempt on all my pride See from his head, his hands, his feet Sorrow and love flow mingled down Did ever such love and sorrow meet Or thorns compose so rich a crown O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name Were the whole realm of nature mine That were an offering far too small Love so amazing, so divine Demands my soul, my life, my all Aights, that's all i can think of now... Back to my endocrine notes. Adios and God bless everyone! Comments : Post a Comment |
