Friday, July 29, 2005 Ibiza... Woo hoo!! Le magnifique!! At least I can finally say that everything's done on my chores list and I have a 3 day break before the new semester begins. Something I think I really deserve considering my hols have been totally wrecked. It's been depressing enough to put up depressing posts of late. I think i've dozed off a few times while trying to write depressing posts. :P Not really sure what i can do in 3 days. I guess meeting up with the old lads would be great afterall, most of them are back from 'Little' Britain and speak the Queens England. On the other hand, FUTSAL !! That would totally rock. If i'm crazy enough, maybe I should just stay back home and be a good lad, take out my lecture notes and revise for the horrendous Sem 5 exam. I wonder... As usual. The 'WASTE YOUR TIME AWAY' segment features: 'THE PROFANISAURUS' Didn't even know such a thing existed. :P Aights... gonna enjoy what's left. Adios ! Wednesday, July 27, 2005 Square one A list of questions my ex-boss used to ask me... 1. Is being efficient important? 2. What is professionalism? 3. Is there such a thing called a deadline? 4. Is there something called being gracious? 5. Should you continue being a nice lad and get trampled on by those around you? 6. Are you significant? 7. Do you even exist? 8. Do you have enough patience? 9. Will you go the extra mile the next time? 10. How long more will it take before you really get turned off? Well, these are just some hard hitting questions that reach my meninges everyday while I was working back in the bank. Pretty much questions that are born out of my ex-boss's frustration when things don't go according to plan. Now these questions return to haunt me. I guess I'll know most of the answers pretty soon just as I have got some sorted out today. Adios. Sunday, July 24, 2005 Starlight It's been a week since hols have begun but i've now woken up to the fact that hols never exist in medical school and are probably just stated as a mere psychological gimmick to psyche us up into believing that we can relax and etc... Strangely, ever since this hols have begun, i've been occupied with tasks to complete and deadlines to meet. My hols will prob be another mirage stuck in that black screen in my mind for now. As it is, life is moving at break neck speed...Just gotta take it by the scruff of the neck and get on with things. No time to waste. On the bright side, it's been great meeting up with old friends and stuff. It wasn't too long ago when we fellers travelled to KLIA almost every freagin day to send each one of these lads off to get their studies done and over with. Well, in a blink of an eye, 98% of the lads are done and back here. It's definitely something to be proud of, afterall, these were the lads that used to do crazy stuff with you since you were in primary school. A testimony to the fact that no matter how much rubbish you've done, there's still hope and success eventually beckons. Ahh.. Just wish I was one of them lads, would have been but chose not to be cos I'm still on my journey of fulfilling what i've always hoped to do. Neways, 3 years from this date... i'll be done with the first part of the journey... then another 5 years and walla, the masterpiece should be complete. Still sounds pretty long innit. At least the fellers are back and so are the crazy stunts we used to do. I wonder what's next on the agenda? As for being a medic student, AMSC 05 is taking place this very minute. Sadly, i'm not one of them lads who's in it. I wonder what's it all about and what's one their agenda. Gotta give credit to all who were involved in the preparations and stuff. Loadsa hard work i guess. Strangely, i dunno how i got sucked into the preparations as well. Just hope all that effort will help ease off a slight part of the burden that them lads have on their backs. Well... if u think you've got lotsa time to waste here's a site you will enjoy : Wingtunes - The oldies of today, the emo of yesteryear You are encouraged to sing along with the music. Enjoy. Bleh. Aight, back to staring at the wall and asking myself questions... I wonder why? Wednesday, July 20, 2005 White flag The chorus and flanger pedal remain engaged, Melancholic tones resonate in the air, The power toggle clicks and all turns silent, Only echos vibrate, I drop to my knees and bow my head, Tears flow down my face, For a moment i thought i had it all, As if destiny needed no control, It all adds up when You sent me back crashing back down, A great reminder of what it's all about, I see the beauty of it all now, Without You i'm nothing, All i am is a vessel for Your work, It's to You i surrender, Use me Lord i pray, In Jesus precious name, Amen. Back to square one and looking for inspiration.... Monday, July 18, 2005 Dunnoler? Work work work...Stare at the wall...work work work...Ignored...Work work work...What's with life man?...work work work...Give me a break. The truth...I'm already broken. Sighs. Blur and unfunctioning. Adios. Friday, July 15, 2005 Travellisimo It's been all about travel this past week or so. Selectives on travel med have just been completed and I guess it wasn't too bad after all. It's been a learning experience and one that was pretty fun too though i was a bit pessimistic about it at first. As a whole, i think most of us enjoyed it especially those who went to check out the decompression chamber @ the Lumut Armed Forces Hospital. Gotta say that was one heck of a trip. Those who went probably needed to get 'decompressed' after the duration of travel they had to endure just to get to Lumut. :P. The trip to the refugee camp wasn't too bad at all. It's like a reminder to count our blessings. At the end of the day, all we hope to see is a transcript which states that we've done well for our selectives. Aight. After a freagin night of travelling in a bus that was probably driven by some encephalitic bus driver and getting on a boat that buzzed thru the sea for an hour, I think it was all worth it though I ended up with a bit of a bout of spatial disorientation (Not due to Mefloquine) :P. With my ah pek slipper, I placed my first step onto the island of Tioman. The rest is self explanatory. Standard story of what some chinaman will do on an island. Highlights of the trip were the 'deep sea fishing' trip ,'snore'-keling we did around the islands and the delightfully cheap cheap cheap Heineken. Our 'deep sea fishing' began with a blast with Sheena and CK bringing in the loot from the sea but after half an hour, everything went helter skelter as a storm approached... darn. Sheena got sea sick (she should have taken Cinnarazine) and I got sea drunk (Should have popped in some dimenhydrinate):P. Wasn't so bad.. at least I caught a freagin fish. In total, 2kgs of fish in 30 minutes isn't too bad and it tasted pretty good. Since a few of us didn't have the licence to SCUBA, we fellers went snorkeling round the islands. I would still recommend Redang ahead of Tioman. It wasn't too bad, at least I accomplished my mission of 'Finding Nemo' who was stuck between some rocks. As for Heineken, woo hoo.. cheap man. Too bad i'm not one who drinks. :P. As for stargazing, loadsa stars stuck up in that big black screen up there. God probably made a copyright to the stars cos somebody tried to take pictures of the stars but the picture only turned out black, and i really mean black as in hitam. ;) Probably got a stiff-necked after trying to look at them as well. But I gotta say, it's awesome stuff. Else than that, I found out that Jeremy sleep talks and sleeps like an octopus. Le Gallerie : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Attending an MPO performance was somewhat an eye-opening experience though it was free. i think all this while i've underestimated the acoustics of the hall. Gotta say that it's pretty awesome stuff especially when the organ is in play. I used to think that only hard hitting Drum and Bass or Jazz music resonating from Bang and Olufsen speakers were something to savour. It seems classical music ain't too bad after all and strangely, some layers from dance tracks are actually taken from classical works. Pretty interesting stuff. I guess once the actual hols after Sem 5 kick off, i could probably experiment some Carl Cox mish mash with some Bach. Sounds cool. As it is, looks like the chinaman was given a big lesson on classical stuff and a lesson well appreciated. :P Aights. Updates later then. Adios! Sunday, July 03, 2005 Comptez vos benedictions What's with the comptez vos benedictions??? Well, it simply means "count your blessings" in French. As i'm currently undertaking the Travel Medicine selective and supposed to research on Refugee Health, I thought it would have been beneficial to visit an actual refugee settlement. All this was possible thanks to Sheena who offered us a chance to join her in helping out refugees at a refugee settlement. Great stuff. What is a refugee? AS UNHCR defines it : A refugee is a person who, owning to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, member of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country. Pretty long and complicated innit? As explained, refugees live rather crazy lives. The conditions at the settlement that we went to were deplorable. People there had to sleep on wooden planks and some only had a plastic sheet over their head as a source of shelter from the heat and rain. They make do with what ever they have and it was pretty cool to see a home-made table-tennis table right smack in the middle of the settlement. Cool stuff. What ever it is, it makes me feel thankful to God that i have a rather blessed life although i may not be some tycoon though my brain gets carried away at times. Well dreams can become reality. Only God knows what will happen. :P The Ping-Pong Arena ![]() Contrary to what we think about refugees, some of the refugees we met were particularly well educated people with tertiary education as well. According to the lad who showed us around the settlement, he was actually studying in university when he had no choice but to run from his native country due to some political problems in his homeland. Gotta admit that he didn't speak 'England' as we would have thought but rather pretty good English which definitely outdoes any ah beng or ah lien you meet in KL. It's also insane that he travelled by land all the way from his homeland in Myannmar all the way to Malaysia. Crazy nut! I guess when people are desperate, they do physiologically crazy things. Physiological as in with common sense and not like in Jackass where people intentionally do sick stuff. Dispensing medication to the folks at the settlement was cool as well. Sorta refreshes my memory on the drugs that we've studied. Learning a bit more on short forms for drug names was also great. The only thing that sucked was the doc's hand writting. For crying out loud, i hope she learns to write clearly. No wonder nurses complain about docs. Guess i can't blame them now. :P. At the same time, i think i should also shut my mouth cos my hand writting is getting from bad to worse now. Probably suffering from the first stage of 'Doc's handwritting syndrome - DHS' now. :P Back to reality then... |
