Face value

It's the first week of semester 8 and all the myths about a 'holiday' semester lingers in the air just before you start it. It seems that we were all given the impression that it's gonna be one happy and relaxing 6 months. Unfortunately, i guess what i suspected seems to be true. It's actually one heck of a busy semester.

To begin with, i'm stuck with the dermatologists for the first 2 weeks. So far it ain't that bad. It's pretty fun actually and the dermatologists are pretty nice people. Their job pretty much revolved around treating acne, psoariasis and eczematous conditions which is pretty simple. I always pictured dermatologists to be women who like helping people to have a good appearance just like their own. Strangely, so far, i've been hanging around 3 dermatologists who are guys. These lads kinda rock in some sense. The 'flowery' language they use is also 'eye opening' at times. Each doc calls the other doc 'macha'. That's wicked.

While waiting for the doc to arrive at his clinic today, i started looking at the patients in the waiting area. It's quite obvious that most patients come to the dermato clinic to fix some problem involving their skin which most oftenly involves the face. Speaking of the face, that gives an individual an appearance which can be used to describe pretty much what kind of person the individual is. Patients with numerous scars sometimes give us an idea of a rough, tough ah beng who has been involved in numerous fights when all the scars where actually due to acne. Besides skin lesions, the features of one's face give the observer an idea of the ethnicity of the patient.

Ever since i was a small lad, i've been asking myself why some people say i look like this or look like that. It's quite obvious that i look like myself and no-one else. Else than being proudly accepted as a bonafide Chinese, so far, weirdly enough, i've been told that i look like a Chindian, Malay and Portuguese which is seriously weird. Can't people see an authentic Chinaman?? Today's comment was the ultimate. Some feller i've known for the past 4 years told me he always thought i was someone of Caucasian descent. I think that lad needs to wash his eyes with optrex 1000X so he can see properly. Dude, i pure CHINA man. Caucasian got blonde hair, i got black one. Causcasian got blue or green eyes and i have brown ones. I think he need to buy specs and watch more Chinese dramas to learn to recognise a Chinaman. It's weird considering the china species is the most common species on the globe.

Well, another week of skin skin skin till i move on to ENT. Listen, Sniff and Swallow !! Adios aight!
