Monday, April 24, 2006 Star-gazing In a blink of an eye 7 weeks have past since i first started clinical school. the journey thus far has been a great one. one which has brought me through many high and low points. in medicine, learning never ends. no matter how much you think you already know, theres a vast ocean of information out there that awaits us to conquer it. the internal medicine posting pretty much summarizes what i'm trying to say. i may be able to make a provisional diagnosis on a certain condition but below that theres a freagin long list of differential diagnoses waiting for me to rule them out one by one. if i'm ever going to be a competent doctor, there would only be one mentor which i would like to train under, that's definitely God. afterall, He is the one that allowed there to be disease and only He knows the slightest difference between disease A and disease B. medicine, a passion which will always keep me wondering. it seems what the mind does not know, the eye does not see. well said from a great lecturer. Aights, the family medicine posting starts today. it's pretty much a posting that allows us to have an insight to what a normal general practioner would do while running his everyday clinic. inquisitive as i am, being a general practioner isn't what i really fancy but then again, they're the people that are out there making first contact with the community and making first line diagnoses. so general practioners do play a significant role in some ways though its always said that if we study medicine, it would be a waste to just be a general practioner. debatable, but for me, it wouln't be of any waste as long as you like what you do and you are able to do it with excellence. we'll see about it once i complete this posting. keeps me wondering again. "How's life la boss??" that seems to be the only question i'm asked everytime i go back to KL or meet up with some long lost friend. dunno why people ask the same question over and over again though they see me every weekend. to keep it short, life has been pretty much the same. nothing much has changed for me all these while. i'm still the same simple lad trying to put pieces of the puzzle together with God's aid in hope that i'll see a beautiful end product to this one and only life which i have. life in seremban hasn't really changed much from life in KL else than the fact that seremban is pretty quiet and life here is just not as zesty and lively. things here tend to trickle at a slower pace with people driving at speeds as low as 20km/h. that's how sad this place is. it's so insignificant that google-earth can't even locate it. like i've always said, it's small like a siew pow. based on some observation, people have commented that i've becomed quiet of late compared to what i was before. i guess they have a point in that. in actual fact, i'm not one who likes to say much but rather spend my time figuring things like a jigsaw puzzle. adding to that, there have also been some life changing lessons that i've learned over the past few months that have made me into what i am today. if there's one thing i seek, it's the desire that God will take my life and fill the rather huge emptiness that I have inside. may He work in me each and everyday that the metamorphosis of life will be a beautiful picture someday. Jesus, take the wheel. Goodwill games... woo hoo!!. the tournament that's initiated to allow closer ties to take place between students in the clinical school and those that are in seremban. football and futsal have always been a major event. last year, we managed to play the match at the King George V field which was excellent. this year, it was even better, we played at Paroi!! of course my remark is plain sarcasm as we played on a pitch worthy for the buffaloes to graze on. the pitch was horrible. i could bet half the team got injured due to the field rather than the tackles. at the end of a pulsating match, us lads lost 4-6. A good game played in good spirit. no regrets. in a game there will always be a loser and a winner. a big round of applause to the lads from bukit jalil for a great performance. it was the same for futsal as well, though we lost, the match was a great game of quick moving futsal. looking forward to the next one. Aights, till the next post from the sleepy hollow of seremban. toodles lads and lasses. Cheers! Comments : Post a Comment |
