Flooded Traffik

Driving in KL can be quite an experience on its own. You don't have to go all the way to some place like Bangkok or Karachi to experience horrendous traffic. In line with Visit Malaysia Year 2007, we should be proud that we have a horrible track record of traffic problems. If it's not the issue of the Mat Rempits, it's probably some issue with toll prices. We seem to have loads to argue about in terms of roadworks and traffic.

In KL, there's never a day where the roads are clear minus the festive seasons. Now things are more interesting that we're experiencing flash floods right smack in the middle of the city. Talk about global warming and its effects. This further leads to a helter-skelter condition where traffic just goes mad. After waddling through water due flash floods in Masjed Jamek while i was still working in a bank within the vicinity a few years back, i thought it was probably just an isolated area where floods are bound to happen thanks to the overpoluted, druggie swimming pool called Sungai Klang. You can imagine the amount of filth that floats in that foul smelling river. Even the catfish swimming around would have rather committed suicide than to live in such an environment. It's no joke cos from my office desk you can literally see fish jumping out of the water every few minutes gasping for air.

Yesterday, Jalan Sultan Ismail was inundated with water that was waist high. Traffic throughout the city was at a standstill. Seems like even the 'brilliant' SMART tunnel (Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel) isn't as 'smart' as it's supposed to be. It wasn't too long ago that some feller gave an excuse that the tunnel was only ready to take in traffic but the flood mitigation system was still not in place. That makes us ask the question why would they even open the tunnel in the first place if it was only partially done up. Is it safe for public use? I'm not sure how many thousand excuses are there gonna be before some one finally owes up and does something about the situation. At the end of the day, taxpayers money worth billions of ringgit have been poured into this freagin huge world-renown project. Is it worth it? I dunno man. Think we gotta ask the boss himself a.k.a Mr. Semi Value who has every excuse in the book for that question.
